Edward has met with members of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at the County Practice based at Syston Health Centre to discuss the work of the practice, and the challenges and opportunities it sees in the future.
As a very busy GP Practice, the County Practice in Syston is fortunate to have an active Patient Participation Group (PPG) speaking up for the issues that matter to patients. Edward was delighted to attend as the local Member of Parliament to hear directly from patients, doctors, and Practice management about issues affecting the Health Centre including the funding formula for GP practices, and challenges arising from new housing developments.
The views and work of PPGs help to inform the decisions taken by local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), commissioning services for patients and carers.
After the meeting Edward said: “It was a pleasure to meet with the PPG in Syston. The surgery does a great job caring for the health of local people from the town and surrounding area, and the contribution of the PPG to that work, as the patient voice is hugely valuable. I am very grateful to the practice and the PPG for the warm welcome I received, and the insight they provided in to local healthcare issues.”
