Following its success in bidding for £20,000 grant funding from the Premier League’s Football Stadia Improvement Fund to install new pitch perimeter fencing and gates between the spectator stands and pitch at its Cropston Road ground, Callingtons Community Arena, Anstey Nomads FC invited Edward as Anstey’s MP to officially ‘cut the ribbon’ on the new gates & fence at the match on 1st December.
Anstey Nomads is a hugely popular local football club which currently operates 24 teams playing across seven different leagues, with players ranging from 4 years old to veterans. The investment has allowed Anstey Nomads FC to ensure that the club continues to maintain the requirements of Grade G of the FA National Ground Grading Criteria.
Edward said: “Football helps bring communities together, whether you play or watch. Local football clubs like Anstey Nomads FC are at the heart of their local communities, doing an amazing job helping to make it possible for anyone, regardless of age or ability, to get involved.
This funding by the Premier League in local clubs, like Anstey Nomads, is vital to help them continue to invest in their grounds and facilities, and it was a real pleasure to be invited to join players and spectators to officially open the upgraded facilities.”
