In advance of Drowning Prevention Week 2018, Edward has met with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), the drowning prevention charity and leading provider of water safety education, to hear about their work & campaigns to help keep people safe around water, and prevent drowning.
Drowning Prevention Week, created by RLSS UK and run in partnership with the RNLI, and Swim England, aims to reduce the number of drowning and near-drowning incidents that occur in the UK every year. It encourages a range of organisations, from schools, clubs, leisure centres and communities to promote water safety education, and helps to raise awareness among the public more broadly.
Edward said: "While particularly important as we approach the summer, with people taking to the water, the messages of the Drowning Prevention Week campaign apply all year round and help to show people how to be safe and have fun near water. The Royal Life Saving Society UK does hugely important work in helping to promote water safety, and to help prevent drowning, and it was a pleasure to meet their team and hear about their forthcoming campaign."
