Edward has visited the newly finished Mountsorrel Memorial Centre, where he and Loughborough MP, Nicky Morgan, were shown around the fantastic state-of-the-art community facility by Parish Council Chairman, Councillor Steve Haywood.
Mountsorrel War Memorials Trust and the Parish Council have been working together since 2014 to raise the money and draw up the plans which saw the old Memorial Hall demolished in 2015, with work commencing on the brand new building the same year. Although the old Memorial Hall had done great service to the village over many decades, it was increasingly showing its age and struggled to meet the demands of the growing and vibrant village. The new building, completed earlier this autumn, includes a new multi-purpose hall with auditorium-style seating, community and meeting rooms, a cafe/ bar and administrative offices, and the facilities will be available for community groups to hire, and for the staging of events and performances.
Following his tour of the new building, Edward said: "Huge congratulations to everyone in Mountsorrel who has worked on this project, and who have succeeded in delivering this state-of-the-art Hall and community facility that will not only serve as a hub for life in the village, but that will attract people from across Charnwood to events and performances."
