Edward has raised local residents' questions with East Midlands Ambulance Service's (EMAS) Acting Chief Executive at their Leicestershire HQ in Birstall.
Edward has met with Richard Henderson, EMAS' Acting Chief Executive, to discuss their performance in Leicestershire & plans for future service improvements. East Midland Ambulance Service covers a large geographical area, including all of Leicestershire, and has previously faced challenges over its response times and financial performance. At the meeting Edward and Mr Henderson discussed local residents' concerns about ambulance response times, the positive impact the major investment in the upgrade of the LRI's Emergency Department has had on ambulance turnaround times, as well as the steps EMAS has already taken to improve its service, and to upgrade its fleet of vehicles.
Edward said: "Our local ambulance service is something we all care about. We all know and appreciate the amazing job our ambulance crews do in Leicestershire and across the East Midlands, so it was a pleasure to meet EMAS' Acting Chief Executive at their local HQ in Birstall to discuss how the service is performing locally in Charnwood, and across Leicestershire.
As well as raising concerns highlighted by constituents about EMAS' response times, I was able to discuss with Mr Henderson the significant performance and financial improvements that have been delivered by the service in recent months, and EMAS' ambitious plans for the future. His, and EMAS' determination to deliver continued improvements was clear, and it was a positive, constructive, and reassuring meeting. I very much look forward to continuing to work closely with Mr Henderson and EMAS on local peoples' behalf in the future."
