Edward and neighbouring Loughborough MP, Nicky Morgan, have jointly hosted the team from Absolute Care Agency at Nicky's office in Loughborough at an event to discuss the issues faced by people as they prepare for older age, and the care challenges that can present.
Absolute Care was founded in 2012 by Wendy and Andy as a community-based, independent home care provider based in northern Leicestershire, to provide care to people who need help to live independently at home. The event follows on from a community event jointly hosted by Edward and Nicky last year at Fearon Hall in Loughborough which brought together care providers, the NHS, charities and volunteer groups to give people an opportunity to talk to them about preparing for older age.
Edward said: "Nicky and I were very pleased to host the team from 'Absolute Care', based in Loughborough, at her office to discuss the challenges we will all face as we get older, and the things to think about and plan for as we do so. It is fantastic that people in the UK are living longer, but that means as a society we need to focus on the changes to social care that will be needed, and as individuals on thinking about, and preparing for, our own older age in advance. Central to that is giving people choice and independence, and encouraging the principles of self-care wherever possible, enabling people to live independently in their own homes for longer. I'm grateful to Absolute Care for their time and insights on this hugely important issue."
