Edward cut the ribbon at the official re-opening of the newly refurbished Groby Post Office. Threatened with closure by Post Office Ltd, the local community and the trades union rallied around, with everyone pressing the Post Office to rethink its plans. So successful were local campaigners that the Post Office changed its mind, and instead refurbished and improved it.
Edward said: "We all know how important the local Post Office in Groby is to the whole village, with its services being hugely valued by residents. It was a huge privilege to be invited to cut the ribbon at the official re-opening, to meet the fantastic, friendly, staff and to see for myself the wide range of services provided. I want to pay tribute to local campaigners and the trades union who all came together with the Parish Council to fight the proposals, to win, and to deliver this great result for the village."
