Edward has joined with local Groby residents and County Councillor Ozzy O'Shea to call on the County Council to take action to tackle the problem of speeding traffic on the A50 at Bradgate Hill on the way in to the village. Local residents, who live near to the road, have complained that not only is the increasing volume of traffic becoming a problem, but that the excessive speeds at which many vehicles travel pose a serious risk to other road users, and also to local residents who have to walk beside this busy road to reach the village or walk to school.
They are campaigning for Leicestershire County Council to reduce the speed limit on the hill to 40mph, from the current 50mph, and to ensure that it is properly enforced, and calling on LCC to investigate ways to deal with the problem of vehicles doing u-turns across this busy road which currently put other road users at risk.
Edward said: "Local residents and Cllr O'Shea approached me to help them with this problem, and I am working with them to secure action from the County Council to reduce speeds on this section of road, just metres from people's houses, to make it safer for road users and residents alike. It's time we solved this growing problem, and I will be taking this campaign to County Hall, and am determined to get the result local people deserve and need."
