Edward has joined the Mayor of Melton, Cllr Tim Webster, pupils from Asfordby Captain’s Close Primary School, Brownlow Primary School, Sherard Primary School, Birch Wood Special School and others, councillors, representatives of the Town Estate, local residents, and visitors, to celebrate Christmas at the Mayor’s Christmas Carol Concert in St Mary’s Church. The concert and service saw the schools delight the congregation with their fantastic performances of carols and festive songs which got everyone into the Christmas spirit, with the Mayor giving a reading, and a reflection on Christmas by St Mary’s Rector, Revd Dr Mary Barr.
Edward commented: “It was a privilege to attend the Mayor’s Carol Service, an annual fixture in Melton’s Christmas calendar, and a lovely event that brought the community together to listen to the school children’s fantastic singing, enjoy the magnificent St Mary’s Church at Christmas, and to reflect on the meaning of Christmas, and on the strength of Melton’s sense of community. I want to congratulate everyone involved, especially the students who sang in the concert, and to thank the Mayor for a very special event.”
