Edward has met with Cash Access UK and Syston Town Council Chair, Cllr Mark Cherry, in the town to discuss progress on Syston's promised Banking Hub. Recent years have seen the local bank branches in Syston close down, leaving the town and surrounding villages without a bank within walking distance. While the local Post Office does a fantastic job of providing some banking services, there is a clear need for a banking hub - a location which could house the major banks on a rota basis, providing face-to-face access for people to their bank in a local location.
Edward said: "Syston residents will know that as Syston's local MP I have been campaigning for a Banking Hub for Syston since 2021, and have pledged to work hard to deliver one for the town. I remain committed to delivering on that pledge, so was pleased to meet with Syston Town Council's Chair and Cash Access UK, who set up the Hubs, in the town for a positive meeting to discuss progress, and how we can jointly work to overcome any barriers to delivering this important service for Syston."
