Edward has visited the Medical School at the University of Leicester to meet with the Vice-Chancellor, leading academics and clinicians, and the Chief Executive of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust to discuss health services in the city and county, the ground-breaking research being undertaken by academics at the University, and to discuss local NHS workforce numbers, and the work of the medical school.
Edward also had the opportunity to tour the medical school and meet current students to discuss their studies, their perspective on NHS workforce challenges, growing the NHS workforce, and their motivations and plans for their future career in healthcare.
Edward said: “Leicester’s Medical School and University are among the best in the country, so it was great to have an opportunity to see their work for myself, hear about the ground-breaking research being undertaken, to thank the team and students and discuss current NHS workforce issues, and to have the opportunity to catch up with local NHS leaders to discuss the current performance of our local NHS system, and the drive to reduce waiting lists.”
