Traffic congestion and queues at the roundabout on the A607 at the junction with Melton Road in north Thurmaston are becoming an increasing problem, especially at peak times in the morning and evening. The junction is a complex one, and is impacted by the heavy volumes of traffic travelling to the shopping centre and shops just off the roundabout.
While there is no simple solution to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, Edward has called on Leicestershire County Council to undertake a full review of the junction and traffic flows to investigate what can be done to improve matters.
Edward said: “This important traffic route through Thurmaston, and this roundabout, have long been subject to heavy volumes of traffic and congestion at the roundabout, down to a number of factors, so it is time LCC undertook a full review of the junction/ roundabout, and I have called on them to do just that.”
