Edward has held one of his regular meetings with the Leader and Deputy Leader of Leicestershire County Council, Cllrs Nick Rushton and Deborah Taylor, to discuss a range of issues in the county, including the Council’s finances and fairer funding for Leicestershire, the importance of continued investment in local transport infrastructure, such as the Melton By-Pass, school places in the county, and support for Ukrainian refugees in the area.
Edward said: “I hugely value my regular meetings with the political leadership of Leicestershire County Council, and it’s Chief Executive, which provide an opportunity for me to raise any local cases/ matters within the Council’s responsibilities from Charnwood, but also to hear from LCC about their plans and the challenges they face. LCC does a fantastic job of providing efficient, first-class services within a challenging financial context, and we had a very useful discussion about fairer funding for Leicestershire, and what we can jointly do to build on the work local county MPs and the County Council’s leadership have done over many years to highlight this issue.”
