Marking World Water Day, Edward has met with the WaterAid charity in Parliament to discuss their work to improve access to clean drinking water around the world, with them highlighting that around the world seven in ten women and adolescent girls who don't have water at home are responsible for collecting it for their families. Between them, they spend 200 million hours every day on this single, often exhausting, sometimes dangerous task, denying them vital opportunities to earn, learn, and take control of their futures.
Edward said: "It was great to meet with WaterAid in Parliament to hear about their lifesaving work and campaigning and I pay tribute to them. 2.2 billion people in the world don’t have access to safe water, so it’s more important than ever to support a renewed focus on access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene across the world."
