Edward has joined local Councillor James Poland, Thrussington’s Parish Council Chairman, Tom Prior, and a host of local residents to take part in the village’s annual litterpick. The weather was kind, and it was great to see so many people coming together to keep beautiful villages like Thrussington litter-free, giving their time on a Saturday to don high-vis vests, and pick up a litter-picker and a refuse sack to scour the verges and hedgerows of the village for discarded litter.
Edward commented: “We all have a responsibility to keep our local areas tidy, and as in previous years it was great to be in Thrussington joining with local volunteers who are committed to doing just that. It really does instil a great sense of pride and, for me, it sums up what true community spirit is all about, and the strength of that sense of community in Thrussington.
Its also important that we remember everyone in our country has a responsibility to not drop litter in the first place, and to work to change a societal culture that too often can be a throw-away culture, to one that emphasises everyone’s personal responsibilities.”
