In his capacity as Justice Minister, Edward has met with the team from Leicestershire YOS, and LCC Cabinet Member, Cllr Ivan Oulds who oversees the YOS, to hear more about the service’s work with young people in the county at risk of offending, or who have committed offences.
In showcasing some of their successful projects and interventions, the team highlighted the importance of working in partnership with other local organisations, like the Police, schools, the Courts, as well as charities and the families of the young people, to deliver support designed to keep the young people out of trouble and to support them in living successful lives, contributing positively to the community in which they live.
Edward said: “Leicestershire County Council can be justifiably proud of the hugely important and successful work of their YOS. The determination to help young people at risk of offending, or who have committed offences, get their lives back on track, and the dedication of everyone in the team, from the staff working directly with the young people, right the way up to the Council’s Cabinet Member was plain to see. The service does a great job of both helping the young people they work with, but also of helping to protect all residents of the county by playing a vital role in preventing and tackling crime.”
