Conservative Councillors on Melton Borough Council have proposed changes to the Council's budget to provide investment to tackle flooding; to support Parish Councils in their work; to provide a hardship fund to help council tenants; and to invest in engaging young people with positive activities in Melton Mowbray.
The detailed, and fully costed, proposals set out to amend the Labour-Independent Budget proposals that fail to address these issues that are important to those living in the Vale and rural villages, and in Melton Mowbray alike. The plans, which address concerns raised by local residents and communities, help fill gaps in the current proposals, and will be voted on in the Council meeting.
Edward said: "As the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Melton and Syston, I know these well thought-out proposals all address issues that local people have raised with me, and with councillors, as simply not being properly addressed by the current Labour-Independent leadership of MBC. The Conservative Melton Borough Councillors have listened carefully to the local community, and have put together a really positive set of proposals that help tackle issues affecting people locally and would bring real benefits to Melton and the Vale. They represent a positive, sensible, approach that all councillors should be able to support."
