Edward has visited the new Work and Health Hub, based in Leicester, to find out more about their fantastic work in the local community and to meet the Shaw Trust staff and service users.
The Work and Health Hub helps people with disabilities, and other complex needs, to find work and achieve well-being. It is operated by the Shaw Trust, a national charity which offers a number of services including delivering the Work and Health Programme (WHP), the Government’s new employment support programme for people with disabilities and complex needs. The programme allocates WHP participants an individual support manager who works with them to co-author an action plan to address the obstacles preventing them from getting into work. The support manager stays with each individual for as long as they’re needed on the employment and well-being journey – even after they start work.
Edward said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Work and Health Hub in Leicester and to meet the fantastic Shaw Trust team, who gave me a tour of the Hub, which officially launched at the end of June. Although only a few months old, it was so encouraging to see the difference it is already making in people’s lives. And although the service is based in Leicester, it serves the entire county.”
