Edward has met with campaigners from Parkinson's UK at the Conservative Party Conference to add his support to their work, and hear about their "Time to Talk' campaign about Parkinson's and mental health.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition, meaning that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There's currently no cure for Parkinson's, but there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition. Parkinson's UK is the charity that works to change attitudes, support people with Parkinson's and their families, and to research a cure.
The meeting provided an opportunity to talk to campaigners about the ground-breaking inquiry currently being conducted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Parkinson’s on access to quality mental health services for people with Parkinson’s who experience anxiety and/or depression, as well as access to benefits and support, and NHS Continuing Healthcare funding.
Edward said: "It was a pleasure to meet with Parkinson's UK campaigners, to get an update on the fantastic work they do to raise awareness of Parkinson's, to support people with the condition and their families, and to campaign on their behalf. I was delighted to reiterate my strong support for Parkinson's UK and their work, and look forward to further meetings with them to discuss the next steps in how we can continue to improve the care and support available to anyone with Parkinson's."
