Edward has signed the Conservatives’ parliamentary motion seeking to force the Government to bring its cuts to pensioners’ Winter Fuel Allowance to the House of Commons for a vote. The motion uses a parliamentary procedure to call for Labour’s cuts to the fuel allowance to be scrapped and to force a vote in the House of Commons to do this.
Edward commented: “The choice the new Labour Government has made, to choose remove the eligibility for the Winter Fuel Allowance from pensioners here in Melton and Syston, and up and down the country, is a cruel and unnecessary one. They’ve made the wrong choice, and its time for them to think again & scrap these cuts. This motion will add to the pressure on the Government to bring this to the House of Commons for a vote, so we can stand with pensioners and vote against these cuts.”
