Edward has teamed up with Groby’s County Councillor, Ozzy O’Shea in a campaign calling on Leicestershire County Council to replace the 36 lamp columns on Sacheverell Way that LCC has cut down recently.
Following a visit with Cllr O’Shea to see the problem for himself, alongside Cllr O’Shea’s petition to the Council, Edward is taking the matter up directly with LCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways, pressing for answers on why the lamp columns on this busy stretch of road have been cut down leaving unsightly ‘stumps’ sticking out of the ground, and calling on LCC to commit to their replacement to ensure this road is properly lit.
Edward said: “Sacheverell Way in Groby is a busy route, for traffic and for pedestrians and joggers, so it is very important it is properly lit. I cannot understand why LCC have simply cut down over 30 street lamps, leaving unsightly 4ft stumps sticking out of the verge. I have called on LCC to explain their decision, and am joining Ozzy in his campaign pressing LCC to set out a timetable to replace them so Groby residents and users of Sacheverell Way continue to get the level of street lighting they need on this road.”
