Edward has joined with the National Farmer’s Union (NFU) and local representatives of the NFU to back the NFU’s ‘Back British Farming ‘ Day to highlight the importance of British farming to our economy, our countryside, and our communities, particularly in in our local area & Melton Mowbray as the ‘Rural Capital of Food’. As Melton & Syston’s local MP, Edward backed the NFU’s work encouraging people to buy British produce, to ensure the voice of our farmers and rural communities is heard in Westminster, and to support farmers and all those they employ.
Edward commented: “As I’ve highlighted in the past, my grandparents were farmers, so I know first-hand how hard farmers work, and how important British farming is to our country and communities, particularly here in Melton and Syston. The NFU’s ‘Back British Farming Day’ is annual fixture in the diary, and rightly so. Our farmers, day-in, day-out, are the backbone of our rural economy, our food security, and our local rural communities. I’m proud to stand with our local farmers and the NFU on ‘Back British Farming Day’ and would encourage everyone to play their part in supporting British farmers.”
