Further to Edward taking up local concerns about the traffic impacts of the closure of the junction of Desford Road & Ratby Lane in Kirby Muxloe, for enabling works for the William Davis development nearby, he has received positive news (in the short term) from Leicestershire County Council that the road closures and restrictions have been lifted for the Christmas period. While this is positive news, there is still the prospect that further closures will be needed next year to complete the works and Edward will continue pressing for any further works to be better managed to avoid the significant impacts the works to date of had on traffic in the village, and on residents.
Leicestershire County Council's update was very welcome, and confirmed that LCC is also taking the issues very seriously, and is liaising closely with the Police in respect of the HGV issue on Main Street, although the County Council's powers over these issues are limited.
Edward said: "I am very grateful to Leicestershire County Council for the very close interest they have been taking in the problems these works have been causing in Kirby Muxloe, and for their update on the works. I will continue pressing for any future works to be managed to avoid the same issues we have seen in recent months, and hope that the developers will agree to my request for a meeting to discuss the works and how to minimise the impact on local residents."
