Edward has joined fellow MP, Zac Goldsmith, and scientists and staff from Kew Gardens for the parliamentary launch of their first ever Science Collections Strategy.
Kew Gardens is home to some of the most important science and plant collections in the world. This important strategy will help guide the development of Kew's Science Collections over the next ten years. Kew's huge scientific collections of plants and fungi from across the globe provide the foundation for describing and understanding the world's plants, and putting that knowledge to practical use helping to find solutions to some of the challenges faced by our planet and humanity.
Edward said: "This is the first time Kew has produced a strategy of this sort for its Science Collections, bringing together a framework for managing, developing, and providing greater access to the collections. Kew's Science Collections represent a fantastic resource for scientists from the UK and around the world to better understand plant diversity, but also the amazing properties of our planet's plant life and how they might be applied to different uses."
