Edward has joined the local team from English Heritage on a visit to Kirby Muxloe castle to discuss the value of tourism to our area; the preservation of our heritage; and ASB issues in the vicinity of the castle.
Kirby Muxloe castle, dating back to the 15th century but never finished, is a well-known Leicestershire landmark and tourist attraction, drawing visitors from the local area and beyond. English Heritage work to preserve this important historic monument and make it accessible for everyone to enjoy and to learn more about our history. He also discussed with the team issues of ASB around the castle last summer, including vandalism, and heard about the steps taken, working with the police and local community, to prevent such problems this summer.
Edward said: “It was great to meet the English Heritage team at Kirby Muxloe castle and to hear about their work to make this fantastic historic landmark accessible to everyone. I was also very encouraged by the steps they have taken to try to prevent a recurrence of last summers’ ASB issues in the vicinity of the castle.”
