Edward has met with representatives of Liver Cancer UK and the British Liver Trust, and survivors of liver cancer, at an event in Parliament to discuss with them how to improve health outcomes for people with liver cancer and liver disease, and how to increase awareness of liver cancer and its symptoms.
Liver Cancer UK is a part of the British Liver Trust, a charity focussed on improving liver health for everyone, and support for those affected by liver cancer and liver disease. Their work focuses on providing information and support to people affected; increasing public awareness of liver disease; working to improve care and research; and campaigning to further improve earlier detection, treatment, and support.
Edward said: “With liver disease, and liver cancer, affected people in all of our communities, I was very pleased to be able to meet with Liver Cancer UK and the British Liver Trust to discuss the risk factors and the symptoms to watch out for, but also what more can be done to raise awareness and to continue to improve treatment, research, and support for those with the disease.
It was particularly good to be able to meet with the inspirational Shona, a liver cancer survivor, who is passionate about raising awareness of the disease, and driving further improvements to treatment and support, by sharing her own experiences with others.”
