Edward has met with supporters of Guide Dogs in Parliament at an event to highlight their work and to draw attention to their 'Streets Ahead' campaign, aimed at making our streets safer and easier to get around by blind or partially-signed people, and people with a guide dog.
The campaign sets out to tackle problems commonly experienced by blind or partially-sighted people, such as pavement parking which can force them in to the road to get by, and to deal with unnecessary 'street clutter' such as signs or street furniture.
Edward said: "We all know about the amazing difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people that a guide dog can make, and about the amazing work of Guide Dogs UK, and I wanted to take this opportunity to meet with them to get an update on their work and current campaigns.
It was particularly good to meet with some of the people who have benefitted from having a guide dog, and to hear from them first-hand about the problems they face on a daily basis from things like careless pavement-parking, and about Guide Dogs' campaigns to tackle this. I look forward to supporting them in their work to raise awareness about these issues, and to helping try to find a solution to them."
