Edward and local County Councillor Brenda Seaton have dropped in for coffee and cake with Barkby and Beeby WI at their open-morning in St Mary’s Church in Barkby.
The open-morning was an opportunity for the WI to showcase to any local person who dropped by, the range of activities they undertake, from baking, to the informative and interesting guest speakers they host, to the craftwork members produce, all helping bring women together to learn, share skills, share experiences, and to enjoy the many and varied social events.
Edward said: “As Barkby & Beeby's local MP it was fantastic to join local WI President Sue Kirk, County Councillor Brenda Seaton, and WI members in Barkby’s Church at the Barkby and Beeby WI’s open morning. Local branches like this are the heart of the WI, bringing women together, to learn, develop new skills, to help amplify WI members’ voices, and to have a lot of fun doing it! Local WI branches also play a huge role at the heart of our communities. I am very grateful to the Barkby and Beeby WI for the very warm welcome I received, as well as for the coffee and cake!”
