Edward has secured a commitment from Enterprise Inns, the owners of Sims pub in East Goscote, to re-open the pub which has been closed and empty for some months.
Sims pub, in the centre of East Goscote, has been shut since its previous lessee decided to cease trading there earlier this year. The pub is an important part of community life in the village, and local Councillor, Sue Gerrard, took up the matter with Edward, enlisting his help in her campaign to get the pub re-opened.
Edward has pressed the Chief Executive of Enterprise Inns about the future of Sims, and following his intervention has secured a commitment from them to place the pub on the market with the intention of finding a new publican to run it, in order to get it re-opened and serving the people of East Goscote as soon as possible.
Edward said: "I know how important a village pub is to community life, and this is true of Sims in East Goscote. After the pub shut, Councillor Gerrard took up the cause of getting it re-opened and enlisted my support. I am very pleased that, following my involvement, Enterprise Inns have got in touch with me with their commitment to find a new landlord and getting Sims back in business. I hope that they are able to find the right person and look forward to the pub re-opening as soon as possible."
