Farming, agriculture, and the huge role that they play, and that our farmers play, in our local economy and community, but also in our nation’s food security and economic success, are key issues this new Parliament must engage with.
Edward joined the President of the NFU at their event in Parliament to hear about the key issues facing farmers and the NFU’s priorities for the coming year, as well as taking the opportunity to discuss local farming issues in Leicestershire with the NFU National President, Tom Bradshaw.
Edward said: “Agriculture, farming, and food production are not only vital to our country, but are central to the local economy and community in Melton and Syston, and in Melton Mowbray itself, the ‘Rural Capital of Food’. It was hugely useful, at the start of this new Parliament, to be able to catch up with the NFU’s President to hear about NFU priorities for farming, and to talk about local issues.”
