Edward has met with the team from Hospice UK, the representative organisation for hospices up and down the country, in Parliament to discuss the pressures currently being faced by hospices, locally and nationally; their calls for longer-term funding; and the impacts of the Government's employers NICs increase on the hospice sector, and the need for this to be addressed.
Up and down the country, day-in, day-out, hospices like Dove Cottage Day Hospice in Stathern, do an amazing job easing the physical and emotional pain of death and dying, helping people to focus on the person and on living, until the end.
Edward said: "It was a pleasure to meet with the team from Hospice UK to discuss the fantastic work done by hospices across the country, and locally in Melton and Syston, and the work of Hospice UK, as well as the challenges currently being faced by hospices. It is vital that the Government ensures the hospice sector has the support it needs to meet the additional employer NICs costs on their most precious asset, their staff, and to build long-term sustainability into the sector."
