Edward has met with constituents at the ‘Estranged Grandparents’ event in Parliament today, to hear first-hand, the difficulties faced by grandparents who are not able to see their grandchildren.
Across the country, there are many children that face the prospect of a weak/non-existent relationship with their grandparents, as a result of factors beyond their control, including: family disputes and marital breakdowns. The event provided an opportunity to engage with grandparents and learn more about the emotional toll that it can take on family members facing these difficult situations.
Edward said: “It was a privilege to be able to meet with those affected by this issue, and to discuss an issue that I know means a great deal to them. Unfortunately, there are a number of circumstances where grandparents are denied access to their grandchildren, and this can be incredibly difficult, and painful, for all those involved. Attending the event, I was able to hear from grandparents speaking about their own personal experiences, as well as learn more about the causes of such complications, and potential solutions.”
