Edward met with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham to discuss the need to tackle high blood pressure, which is linked to around half of heart attacks and strokes in the UK, and the wider work of the BHF in promoting awareness of heart and circulatory disease, and research to better treat it.
After the meeting, Edward said: “Improving the nation’s heart health can help prevent people from needing treatment for chronic conditions, and can reduce the risk of heart attacks or strokes. It was a pleasure, as always, to meet with the BHF, who do fantastic work and who I’d had the pleasure of working with as a Health Minister, to explore how we can make further progress in awareness- raising, prevention, research and treatment of heart and circulatory disease, to help ensure healthier hearts in the future.”
