Edward joined the celebrations for the Thurmaston Silverdale Community Centre's 50th Anniversary, along with the Mayor of Charnwood, Thurmaston Councillor Matt Brookes, and large numbers of local people of all ages to enjoy an evening of entertainment and stage performances.
Everyone had a great time, with fantastic performances from a range of local people, including the Thurmaston Starlets and the Thurmaston Showstoppers. The Thurmaston Silverdale Community Centre is run by an independant self-financing voluntary charity and plays a vital role in bringing the community together, and providing a venue where local groups, social gatherings and entertainment can be enjoyed by everyone. It is also the home to Thumaston’s Community Library in its annex-room.
Edward said: "My congratulations to everyone who took part in delivering great performances, and particularly to Tony, Lynne, Graham, and the whole team at the Centre who put the event together. Their contribution to the Centre, and the wider community, is of course much, much greater than one event, however spectacular, and it is people like Tony, Lynne, Graham and the whole team at the Centre whose drive and local commitment make things happen, and help bring communities like Thurmaston together - this is a great moment for us to say a big thank you to them all."
