Edward has joined Seagrave-based Countryside Enterprises CIC at an awards ceremony in the House of Lords to congratulate them on their success in being declared Regional Winners of the Rural Enterprise category of the prestigious annual Countryside Alliance Awards.
Countryside Enterprises work with WHM Work Connections, and over 120 members who are adults with learning disabilities, to create and run a host of fantastic small enterprises, benefitting the local rural communities near where they are based, including Sprouts Farm Shop, 'The Coffee Hatch', 'The Play Patch & Conservation Area' and a host of others. Countryside Enterprise’s approach is based on promoting choice, control, and independence for all their members and services users, designing a support package around them and with them.
Edward commented: “Having had the privilege of visiting Liz, Helen and the Countryside Enterprises team in Seagrave in the past, and seen first-hand the hugely impressive and hugely important work they do, I was thrilled to see them rightly recognised for their achievements with this prestigious Countryside Alliance Regional Winners Award. I hope they had a fantastic day coming down to Parliament for the awards ceremony, and look forward to visiting them in Seagrave again very soon."
