Following a series of break-ins and ram-raids on local businesses in Syston in recent months, Edward has met with a number of the businesses affected, in their premises, to discuss the issue and its impact on them.
While these break-ins have occurred not just in Syston, but across northern Leicestershire and our wider region, in what could be an organised way making it a complex series of crimes to investigate, it is important that the criminals are caught and prosecuted as swiftly as possible.
Edward has raised this issue directly with Police HQ on behalf of local people, and has been reassured our local Police in Leicestershire, as well as Police across the East Midlands, are working very hard to identify, arrest, and secure the evidence to prosecute, the criminals that have been carrying out these raids. He has arranged a meeting with senior Leicestershire Police Officers in Syston in a few weeks' time to discuss the issue further.
Edward said: "These ram-raids and break-ins, and their impact on local businesses, have been of real concern to Syston residents over the past few months. Our local Police do a great job, and I know how hard they are working to catch those responsible. I am arranging to meet with senior Officers in Syston in the coming weeks to discuss the progress on tackling this problem, but also to discuss local policing priorities in our area more broadly. I hope that this meeting will also provide the opportunity for senior Officers to meet with some of the local businesses affected."
