Edward Argar has been selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Charnwood for the forthcoming general election.
Born in 1977, Edward now lives in Syston, in the heart of the Charnwood constituency, but is originally from Kent where he attended his local state grammar school before studying for a history degree at Oriel College, Oxford. Edward’s parents were both teachers - his mother originally from a farming family, his father from an army family.
After university Edward moved to London to work and has spent almost a decade working for private sector businesses including Hedra, Serco, and Mouchel in management consultancy and communications jobs, as well as previously having spent four years as Political Adviser to the then Shadow Foreign Secretary focusing on Middle East policy and travelling extensively in the region.
Over the past decade Edward has also always taken a very active role in serving his community and has extensive experience as a school governor, as trustee of a regeneration and employment charity, on the board of an NHS Trust, and as a city councillor in Westminster…..and when he has time, Edward loves gardening, tennis, and watching cricket!
He will work closely with local councillors and the whole community, irrespective of Party politics, to represent Charnwood and ensure that what always comes first are the best interests of this community and getting a fair deal for Charnwood and Leicestershire. If elected, Edward will always be your voice in the House of Commons, and a champion for Charnwood.
