The Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has appointed Edward as Paymaster-General and Minister for the Cabinet Office in her reshuffle following her appointment as Prime Minister by HM The Queen.
Edward’s new role is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Cabinet Office, civil service reform, Government efficiency, and Government procurement & commercial policy.
Edward said: “While the greatest privilege is always to be the MP for Charnwood, it is a huge privilege to be appointed by the Prime Minister as Paymaster-General and Minister for the Cabinet Office, attending Cabinet, with responsibility for helping drive greater efficiency in Government, and ensuring the machinery of Government delivers for the people of this country.”
