Edward has joined NFU Sugar and British Sugar at their joint event in Parliament to highlight the ‘Homegrown Sugar Success Story’. In addition to providing an opportunity to discuss the UK beet sugar industry with representatives from NFU Sugar and British Sugar, the event also provided the opportunity to meet the participants of this year’s Sugar Industry Programme – a scheme designed to engage and develop growers through a programme of training and development.
Edward said: “Sugar beet is an important part of agriculture in the East Midlands, and the UK’s sugar industry not only employees large numbers of people, but is an agricultural success story the UK should be proud of. It was great to meet the teams from British Sugar and the NFU to hear more about the contribution of sugar beet to our regional and national economy, and British Sugar’s success as an important British business.”
